Auto Recyclers

  • You may be selling dangerous, safety related recalled parts today.

  • It is illegal to sell parts that are recalled and you can be fined for doing so.

  • If you become a member and use the AAR service, we will help you build processes in your business so that you can make sure you weed out all recalled parts and therefore advertise that your parts are recall checked and passed.

  • If you sell a recalled part and it fails, causing any form of injury, you will be held liable, fined and prosecuted.

  • You have an obligation to the public to only sell quality parts that are fit for purpose.

  • Always act in the interest of public safety - failure to do so could be fatal.

Insurers

  • With close to a million recalls per year in Australia, you most probably are insuring vehicles that have active recalls on them.

    • These are dangerous and could cause accidents and injuries.

  • It is in everyone’s interest that recalls are identified at policy renewal time.

    • By doing so insurers will be acting in the best interest of consumer safety and managing their risk.

  • Policyholders have recalls activated on vehicles they are driving all the time.

    • They are often not able to be contacted by the vehicle manufacturer and as a result continue to drive unsafe vehicles unknowingly.

    • Through the AAR Auto Alert traceability system, every newly activated recall can be communicated to the insurer who can then notify their policyholder, reducing risk and enhancing the insurer’s commitment to the safety of their customer and other road users.

  • By integrating with the AAR API, you could eliminate these risks and ensure that your customers are always informed of dangerous recalls and in so doing, responsible insurers could demonstrate to their customers that their insurer will always look after them, not just when they are involved in an accident - the prevention is better than the cure.

Vehicle Manufacturers

  • Once your vehicle moves beyond first owner status, it becomes increasingly difficult to find it when a recall is activated.

  • Locating affected vehicles becomes a very costly and time consuming exercise for vehicle manufacturers and results in lower than acceptable recall completion rates.

  • It becomes even more problematic once a vehicle is written off and goes to a salvage yard as the vehicle then is taken apart and its component parts harvested for sale.

  • Often these very parts are the parts that have been recalled and no longer fit for use in the recipient vehicle.

  • All Auto Recall’s traceability mechanisms will ensure that all registered VINs in the database and their respective component parts can be traced.  As a result VMs,

    • Using the AAR services will receive timely reports once a recall is activated to identify those parts that are no longer in service.

    • Will know that the AAR members have removed the affected parts from sale or have already destroyed them, enabling the VM to remove that VIN from the recall list and mark as ‘salvage destroyed’

    • Know that if the recalled part was sold by an auto recycler, that the said AAR member has a recall process in place and will be making contact with the buyer to let them know of the recall and guiding them to call the VM for product replacement.

    • Make sure that they do not mark a part off as completed or destroyed, just because a vehicle has been scrapped in the past.

      • The component parts may have been harvested and be in stock or sold to an unknowing consumer.
